Overview

The Applied Science & Engineering Program (ASEP) adds breadth, depth, and personal development to the course of study for students who have shown an interest in science. Addressing the interests and aptitudes of each student, the program is designed to further a student’s interest in a specific field of science and to lead to successful completion of a hands-on research externship.
The program not only places students in some of the country’s leading labs, it also allows them to take ownership of their education. Read "Thinking Outside the Classroom" as featured in the Winter 2020 issue of Alumni Horae.
"I learned exactly what it takes to actually understand what I am doing in a scientific setting. The work I did fits into the education I received at St. Paul's but extends well past anything I have done in class before. I have learned some of the most all-around applicable skills from this class. I would highly recommend this class to anyone who is willing to work hard, plan ahead, and put forth their best effort to accomplish so much more than just their project."

“I am so grateful and fortunate to have had the opportunity to participate in the AESP. I have learned several things about myself and the amazing opportunity that I have been given. I have acquired the skills to be focused and productive while working on a solo-project. ASEP has given me a wonderful glimpse into what I want to study in college. Through this program, I have figured out the direction that I want to focus my studies in the future, while also learning the skills necessary to achieve it.”
